Hot Fried Hell...reading “The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires”

Holy moly, it’s hot fried hell here. It’s typical August weather on the Texas gulf coast. Today, we also have a heat index warning.

I’m chilling today, reading “The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires” and  drinking sweet tea this afternoon.  Even the four-leggers are stretched out on the bed, taking a nap. This book’s tagline is “Fried Green Tomatoes and Steel Magnolias meets Dracula,” it’s set in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina during the GW Bush years. I saw the book on Goodreads, checked the library and they had a copy. You won't find a plot summary here, I hate spoilers.

I’ve had both a Kindle and iphone apps for listening to audiobooks for years.  I’ve moved away from most print books, same with buying audio CDs.  I could be reading some of the books on my bucket-list or learning something new. I’m not today, I’m reading pure escapism and I’m not hurrying back.

I'm going to enjoy the armchair afternoon vacation. Laters...I also need a tea refill.

Update: “The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires” was well written.  Horrific mixed with humor mixed with everything that is wrong with American society.

Trigger Warnings: Multiple suicides, child death, lynching, racism, rape, sexism, domestic abuse, rats, gore.
