I don’t want false hope, I want facts and I got a few.

Thought for today…I’m sick of the political spin. I don’t want false hope, I want facts.

I got some facts yesterday, from the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci:

“The world may never get back to what it considered “normal” before the coronavirus emerged from Wuhan, China a little over three months ago and spread to more than 1.3 million people across the world, U.S. health advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci said at a White House press briefing Monday.
Gradually, we’ll be able to “function as a society. But you’re absolutely right, if you want to get to pre-coronavirus, that might not ever happen in the sense that the threat is there.”
Fauci said a number therapies are in the pipeline and several potential vaccines are in the works, giving him faith “that we will never have to get back to where we are right now.”

After figuring out that we are in for a COVID long haul, Bob and I are going out early mornings a couple times a week for a walk and dolphin watching. This morning it was foggy and cloudy but it was also pre-dawn too. Only a few fishermen and lots of birds for company. This area is shut down on the weekends now so the wildlife is beginning to take over.

After the experience of lockdowns, self-isolations, and social distancing, how will things change? Our society and lifestyles as a whole has been fragmenting and polarizing.  I wonder if we will embrace change or rebel again against it.  I’m predicting that this current ‘flatten the curve’ is the new normal for at least the next couple of months. I, for one, will not go back to what I consider normal until there is a vaccine. So I might be looking at a couple of years.

Stay safe!!!!
